Additional Information

ACCESS: Note that this trail can be accessed from multiple locations. The address given is the farthest west access point at the Truckee River Regional Park, but you can also join it from East River St, Ranch Way, Riverview Sports Park, Butterfield Dr, and Glenshire Dr. Some access points (like the Regional Park) are steep and may be unsuitable for bike trailers or double joggers. For a flatter access point, park at the end of East River St and cross the bridge to join the trail, and then turn left to enjoy more of the flat/gradual sections of the trail. // DESCRIPTION: "The Truckee River Legacy Trail is a wonderful resource to the Truckee community that connects downtown Truckee with the Glenshire neighborhood, while traveling along the banks of the Truckee River. Offering lots of sunshine and beautiful river views, the Legacy Trail is an ideal spot to utilize all year round but particularly during the winter - it is plowed when other trails are covered in snow. It's a 6-mile paved Class I bike path starting at the Truckee River Regional Park (or on the east end of the path, at Glenshire Road, just before entering the Glenshire neighborhood sign). There is also access from Truckee Riverview Sports Park. "This beautiful path winds along the Truckee River with a bridge over Martis Creek and is a popular trail for bikers, runners, dog walkers and families. "In the winter, the Legacy Trail is cleared of snow, allowing for a beautiful walk along the river in all seasons. "The trail also accesses Riverview Sports Park and includes interpretive signage along the way." (from the Truckee Chamber of Commerce website) // RESTROOMS & WATER: Both are available at the Riverview Sports Park, but they may be inaccessible/turned off in winter. // HAZARDS: This trail follows the Truckee River and has some sections with steep drops if you wander off the paved trail. Be alert for fast-moving bicycles.
