Tell us how the HiB30 Challenge “challenged” you to get outdoors and get those miles!
Emily: On days when I didn't feel like going out, I would remember the challenge and went out even for a short walk. Unfortunately, both kids were sick so I didn't get out as much as I wanted to.
Julie: The HiB30 challenge made me try to get outside every day, even on the days I didn't have a specific reason to get out of the house. There were days it was tough, especially after a rough night with my little one, but my husband was really great at encouraging me to get out there even if it was just a short walk in the local park.
Krista: Lily had to spend two weeks at Seattle children's Hospital. So it was really hard to get our miles in. But we did it!
Anna Marie: The beginning of the month was nuts - and I procrastinated - and finally I thought "ok just get this done." A migraine and some colds at the end of the month set us back a few miles.
Brittany: It challenged me to lead some hikes and find other ways to just be more active with the kids. We found ways to get hikes in all the time. Now my kids ask, can we go on a hike!
Were you surprised at the miles you achieved?
Emily: I did a lot less miles than I expected. Both kids were sick and work was crazy, so I wasn't able to hike as much as I wanted. Also, I'm finding it difficult to fit in a hike around both kids nap schedule.
Julie: I was really surprised at how many miles we managed over the month. I started the challenge just wanting to get to 30, but we managed just over 40 miles. Loved seeing that total at the end of the challenge.
Anna Marie: I was amazed by how many miles we got in! We came up a few miles short at the end - I got a migraine - but I was so proud of us for getting outside so much and it felt great!
Brittany: Not really. Once you get moving, they add up quickly!
Did you learn any tips/tricks for getting little ones out from the other participants in the Challenge?
Anna Marie: I started packing the night before so I could just grab and go. I did learn that leaving the house without feeding the toddler a full breakfast is a terrible idea! Haha
Brittany: I learned I can do anything! I carried a kiddo for 1.5 while wearing another. The next time we did the hike, thankfully another mom had a carrier I could use!
Thanks again to our awesome prize sponsors for supplying Hike it Baby with amazing prizes to share with our winners! Join in the next HiB30 Challenge for your chance to win!!
